ASI – FLOOD RESILIENCE – REDUCING VULNERABILITIES FACED BY THE POPULATION RESIDING IN THE FLOOD PRONE AREAS AND MAXIMISING PRODUCTIVITY BY MAKING USE OF EXISTING RESOURCES

- RESOURCE UTILIZATION- The objective is to enable the flood affected communities in being better prepared in terms of agricultural practice before and during the onset of flood. The focus is also to tap the existing skills of the community in Fishery and Weaving methods. This will lead to not only food security but also to secured income sources during ravages by floods.
- ACCESS TO SAFER SERVICES- The project is taking a holistic approach to enable the communities in being better prepared for the adverse impacts of floods by addressing issues of access to safe drinking water, Flood Proof Sanitation and Water facilities, safe shelter and transportation during times of flood
- IMPROVED PRACTICE- The project is implementing innovative and adaptive agricultural practices on a pilot mode such as Drum Based High Value Vegetable Cultivation, Rabi Vegetable Cultivation, Boro Paddy Cultivation, Irrigation Support, Pan Fishery, Weaving and sericulture practices.
RESILIENCE BUILDING- All the components are directed to maximizing productivity, enhancing access to services and reducing vulnerability among the flood affected communities. The project respects the fact that we cannot stop floods from occurring but we can enable and empower communities to develop sustained resilience towards the adverse impacts of floods.
