ASI-Livelihood – SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOODS THROUGH THE ORCHARD DEVELOPMENT AND INTERCROP FARMING IN ORCHARDS

- RESOURCE UTILIZATION- The primary objective of the project is optimal use of the underutilized land resources of enterprising rural households in Boko Block of Kamrup District of Assam. Provision of access to improved input support leading to increased production and productivity is the key intervention the program is based on
- IMPROVED PRACTICE- The project aims at infusion of improved cultivation practices in Black Pepper as well cultivation of high density Papaya. The project is also implementing Fishery as the area has huge untapped potential. Formation of Farmer Producer Organisations and market linkage for capitalizing on the commercial opportunity are central to the intervention.
- SUSTAINABILITY AND SCALABILITY- Some of the major interventions like vegetable cultivation under Rain Shelter are based on the replication and scaling up of the already proven innovations. All interventions are designed to be physically and economically viable and sustainable
- INCREASED INCOME LEVELS- The project will generate an additional revenue of Rs. 5.6 Crore at the end of 3rd Year. In terms of outcomes, the project envisages 2444 MT of Horticultural Produce and 90 MT of Fish. The project aims to augment the average additional household income of the famers to tune of Rs. 80k to Rs. 1 lakhs.
