ORCHARD INTENSIFICATION – INTENSIFYING LIVELIHOODS FOR TRIBAL HOUSEHOLDS OF BOKO BLOCK IN SOUTH KAMRUP DISTRICT OF ASSAM

  • RESOURCE UTILIZATION– The primary objective of the project is optimal use of the underutilized homestead land resources of the tribal households in Boko Block of Kamrup District of Assam. The Landless farmers are also supported by interventions in Livestock rearing.
  • INCREASED INCOME LEVELS- The project aims to augment the average annual additional household income of the farmers to tune of Rs. 80k to Rs. 100k.
  • IMPROVED PACKAGE OF PRACTICE- The project aims at infusion of improved cultivation practices in Black Pepper as well multiple cropping with pineapple and Assam Lemon. In order to address the issue availability of water irrigation support is provided. The project is also implementing Goatery with the landless tribal farmers. Infrastructure support and FPO formation for consolidation of results.
  • SUSTAINABILITY AND SCALABILITY- Some of the major interventions like vegetable cultivation under Rain Shelter is based on the replication and scaling up of the already proven innovations. All the interventions are designed to be physically and economically viable and sustainable
